Founded in 2018 by Chitranshu Mahant and Aman Verma, Primebook designs cost-effective, smart laptops for students in India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Its devices run PrimeOS, an Android-based operating system that offers desktop-style multi-window multitasking, native Android app support, touch-to-keyboard key-mapping, and Prime X Cloud PC hand-off for hybrid local–cloud computing. The platform integrates AI capabilities such as Companion Mode and AI-powered global search, and the company is building a deeper foundational AI layer to automate routine tasks. Fresh capital will fund PrimeOS R&D, expand AI and cloud infrastructure, and reinforce data security. Primebook also plans to grow its offline retail footprint, bolster after-sales service, and run user education programs on responsible AI and privacy. In April 2025 the startup raised $2 million in pre-Series A funding at a $15 million valuation, and the latest $250 k follow-on brings total pre-Series A proceeds to $2.25 million. These resources underpin Primebook’s ambition to create a full computing ecosystem that delivers smart, accessible, and secure digital experiences to young Indians.
