Founded in 2020, Primer operates a network of 23 microschools in Florida and Arizona that offer highly personalized, small-group core academics alongside passion-driven projects. Its community-focused model empowers teachers to launch Primer microschools tailored to local needs and demographics, illustrated by its Liberty City, Miami presence. Students set goals, pursue passion projects, and receive individualized pacing and support; parents are involved in shaping each child’s education. Primer emphasizes mentorship, social skills, and real-world readiness through small cohorts and open communication. The company plans rapid expansion into new states beginning in the 2025/26 school year, targeting markets where public schools underperform and private options are costly or religiously affiliated. Financially, Primer is backed by a roster of prominent investors and has attracted new investment from Uma Ventures as it scales. Primer is developing an interactive, full-stack suite of products to make homeschooling a more accessible, mainstream option for families. The company does not offer a dedicated curriculum; instead it builds tools to help parents acquaint themselves with available resources. To date Primer has launched Navigator, a tool to help parents stay compliant with state homeschooling regulations, and Primer Library, a collection of free digital instructional materials. The team is preparing to roll out interest-based online communities in August, with about 5–7 initial classes (examples include rockets, chess and baking) and plans to charge a monthly subscription for membership. Primer has opened a waitlist for the communities and says it hopes to launch several more products next year. Founder Ryan Delk, who was homeschooled from kindergarten through eighth grade, says the products are intentionally high-touch and not meant to replace hands-on parental involvement; the company noted that roughly 2.4 million U.S. children were homeschooled as of 2016.
