Prisyna is an oral care business unit of Synedgen based in Claremont, Calif., that combines proprietary glycomics technology with natural materials and polysaccharides to create advanced oral rinses. Its investigational products include Moistagen, a potential treatment for dry mouth, and a formulation to relieve oral mucositis; the company also sells Synedent Oral Care and Synedent Plus Oral Care with fluoride. A multi-center clinical evaluation of Moistagen (57 patients across two sites) showed statistically significant reductions in 15 of 33 dry-mouth symptoms and will be presented in an upcoming manuscript. Moistagen was anticipated to be cleared for marketing by the FDA in the second half of 2016. Prisyna is revenue positive with commercial product sales and plans to use new funding to accelerate advanced development, regulatory approval, marketing, and pipeline expansion while supporting current products. The business unit is led by co-founders William Wiesmann, M.D., and Shenda Baker, Ph.D., and will operate as an independent oral care unit within Synedgen.
