Private AI
192 Spadina Ave. #428, Toronto, ON, M5T 2C2, Canada
Overview
Private AI provides machine-learning models to identify, redact, and generate synthetic personally identifiable information (PII) within semi- and unstructured datasets. The solution detects and handles over 50 types of PII in more than 47 languages and is deployed inside customers' own environments so data need not be transferred to third-party processors. Its product is designed to help customers comply with data-protection regulations such as GDPR, CPRA, and HIPAA. The company plans to use new funding to expand activities in Europe and into new industry sectors, and to invest in product enhancements including a new self-service platform, document (pdf/docx) PII detection, and risk-profile generation. Private AI is led by CEO Patricia Thaine and CTO Pieter Luitjens. The company raised new capital in a Series A to support these initiatives. Private AI builds privacy-preserving machine learning and natural language processing tools intended for developers. Its software can be deployed on-prem, on the web, or on mobile and is designed to be added to data pipelines with only a few lines of code. The company was founded by Thaine, Pieter Luitjens (CTO), and Professor Gerald Penn (Chief Science Officer). Private AI envisions a future in which private, secure, and seamless data analysis enhances creative software development. In September 2021 the company raised a $3.15 million seed round to support its growth. The proceeds are intended to improve the product offering, expand the team, and accelerate acquisition of domestic and international customers.
