ProBueno is a marketplace that enables people to offer their talents and services with proceeds directed to charities. The platform was founded by MIT alums and is led by co-founders Michel Rbeiz and Ryan Kabir. It aims to broaden pro bono work by using technology to make offering skills easy and accessible beyond a small elite. The site includes a fundraising tool with task pages that let providers set a number of spots and prices—similar to Kickstarter—so payments go directly to the chosen nonprofit. ProBueno has signed up Khan Academy for a pilot and features a Khan Academy landing page demonstrating the tool. The company has raised $340K in angel funding from friends, family and a few investment funds. The team plans to add more nonprofits and expand the kinds of services available as the community grows.
