ProcessMaker is a no-code/low-code open-source process automation platform that enables business analysts and IT to automate complex workflows connecting people and existing systems. Founded in 2000 by Bobby Vernon and Brian Reale and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, the company was bootstrapped until its first outside investment in 2021. It has grown to about 140 global employees, several million open-source downloads, hundreds of commercial customers across 52 countries, and more than 150 universities. The platform offers off-the-shelf solutions such as commercial account opening for community banks and automations for student-facing higher-education workflows (e.g., transfer-credit approvals). ProcessMaker has been named a Gartner representative vendor in the 2020 iBPMS Market Guide, won a 2020 CODiE Award for Best Digital Process Automation, and was ranked an enterprise BPM momentum leader on G2 Crowd. The company says it will use the new investment to continue investing in its digital process automation platform and to build out its presence in community banking, higher education, and manufacturing.
