Overview
The PTO is a sports body co-owned by its professional athletes that seeks to elevate and grow the sport of triathlon and operates the T100 Triathlon World Tour. The T100 was launched in January 2024 as a season-long schedule of World Championship level races contested over 100km and was designated by World Triathlon as the official World Championship for long distance under a 12-year strategic partnership. The tour features the world’s top 20 female and top 20 male triathletes, alongside amateur competitors, and is broadcast live in 195+ territories via a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and other broadcasters. T100 weekends are presented as “festivals of multisport,” offering events for amateurs of all levels. The PTO plans to expand the 2025 T100 calendar from seven to nine races, including a new Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final. The organization has previously attracted founding investor Sir Michael Moritz in 2020 and completed a Series B in December 2022 that included Divergent Investments, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Eckuity. The PTO is a not-for-profit organization representing professional male and female triathletes and seeks to give athletes a meaningful voice in the sport. Its core activities center on staging iconic events, reimagined broadcast, and storytelling to showcase athletes' talent and dedication. The organization plans to launch five "Majors" of the PTO Tour, positioned as equivalents to ATP and PGA Tour events, to raise the sport's profile. PTO aims to make triathlon more attractive to broadcasters, host cities, commercial partners and a high-value, loyal fanbase. The group also seeks to serve as a distribution platform for health, wellness, and medical-tech companies to reach hard-to-reach consumers. Through these efforts the PTO intends to promote exercise, broader health-tech adoption, and increased recognition and rewards for professional triathletes.
