The company is building a transformational platform to target therapeutic agents to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, with the potential to deliver proteins orally, and is developing precision molecular diagnostics such as SIBO and microbiome analytics for the upper and lower GI tract. Progenity is also pursuing consumer health nutrition applications tied to its microbiome work. The company focuses on outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for GI diseases that affect over one third of Americans, including irritable bowel syndrome, fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal cancers. Progenity recently completed a privately placed $125 million financing (Series B comprising equity and debt) to support development and commercialization.
