ProVascTec, headquartered in Cork’s UCC Gateway Incubation Hub, is advancing PulseCLTI, a regenerative treatment that combines stem cells with a proprietary, patent-protected delivery system to create a local bypass in severely blocked arteries. The therapy targets critical limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), an advanced stage of peripheral artery disease affecting roughly 40% of the 260 million global PAD patients and often leading to amputation. PulseCLTI was invented by Professor Noel Caplice, now the company’s chief scientific officer, while CEO and co-founder Dr. Holger B. Müller drives commercialisation. Working with Professor Subrata Ghosh at UCC’s School of Medicine and medical-device partner Arrotek Medical, ProVascTec aims to progress from prototype to clinical-trial readiness. The €2.5 million DTIF award will fund prototype development, pre-clinical testing, and regulatory work. The non-dilutive grant underscores Ireland’s supportive innovation ecosystem and validates ProVascTec’s novel approach to vascular regeneration.
