Provender operates an online marketplace that connects local food producers with restaurants, caterers and other food businesses, supplying farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy. The platform launched out of Montreal and has officially expanded to Toronto, signing up 88 chefs and 38 local farms there. The company partners with organizations such as Evergreen Brick Works to help growers find new markets. Provender went through Montreal’s FounderFuel accelerator and previously raised angel capital before this seed round. Near-term product plans include releasing a mobile app. The team is also preparing U.S. expansion, with Boston cited as a target and a later launch planned for either Vancouver or San Francisco.
