Provention Bio is a Lebanon, N.J.-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that sources, develops and commercializes novel therapeutics aimed at intercepting and preventing immune-mediated disease. Its predict-and-prevent therapeutic model focuses on developing drugs that intervene before targeted diseases begin, re‑appear, or progress. The company's pipeline includes clinical-stage assets licensed from Janssen Research & Development and Vactech Oy for indications including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, emerging viral infections, and prevention of type 1 diabetes. Co-founded by Ashleigh Palmer (CEO) and Francisco Leon, MD, Ph.D., Provention will use the Series A proceeds to advance its pipeline of therapeutics. The $28.4M financing is part of a two-step funding process that the company expects may include an IPO in 2018. MDB Capital Group acted as placement agent for the offering and co-investors included Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC and the JDRF T1D Fund.
