Prowler builds an open cloud security platform and provides powerful open-source tools to help organizations secure cloud environments across providers. The company recently unveiled its most comprehensive release, Prowler 5, at AWS re:Invent and has since followed with Prowler 5.4 to expand capabilities. Prowler emphasizes an open, adaptable, and community-focused approach to cloud security and will host the inaugural Open Cloud Security Conference virtually on Tuesday, April 8. The company says it grew rapidly and has become a trusted solution for security teams worldwide. With the new funding, Prowler plans to advance product innovation, further expand platform capabilities, and reinforce its position in open cloud security. Financially, Prowler completed a seed financing totaling $12.5 million. Prowler offers an integrated SaaS platform and open-source tooling for cloud security, with capabilities for AWS security assessments, audits, incident response, continuous monitoring, hardening, and forensics readiness. The platform includes over 300 controls covering frameworks such as CIS, PCI-DSS, ISO27001, GDPR, HIPAA, FFIEC, SOC2, AWS FTR, ENS and supports custom security frameworks. Prowler is available through the AWS Marketplace and is designed for easy deployment across multiple AWS accounts, providing continuous monitoring, faster execution, personalized support, and integrations. The project has been active since 2016, has been downloaded more than 7 million times, and is used globally, including by AWS for its own security checks. Leadership includes CEO Casey Rosenthal and CTO Toni de la Fuente, and the company emphasizes community-driven, open-source development alongside a commercial offering. Prowler will use new funding to expand engineering, sales and marketing, improve operations, and accelerate product innovation with features planned to roll out through 2024.
