Proximity Data Centres operates regional "internet edge" colocation facilities located closer to customers to deliver low-latency connectivity. The company targets customers with high distributed-data needs including streaming providers, financial services and government, driven by Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. It plans to establish a new network of 18 regional data centres around the UK to improve coverage and reduce transit costs. Management says the regional footprint will allow Proximity to reach 95 percent of the country with low latency. The company has announced new funding from ICG-Longbow to support this expansion; the full investment amount was not disclosed.
