Prysm
145 Bear Crossing, Suite 320, Mount Juliet, TN, 37122, United States
Overview
Prysm develops large-venue laser phosphor display panels that combine laser diodes and a surface-emissive phosphor panel directed by mirrors to produce flicker-free, motion-blur–free RGB images. The company says its LPD panels are energy-efficient (an 80-inch screen uses 100 watts; a 225-inch display uses less energy than a hair dryer) and can be tiled to create massive displays. Prysm began demoing the technology in 2010 and was formerly known as Spudnik. The recent financing will support the start of volume production and enable broader commercial deployment. Prysm plans to build a 150-member global support team and use funds to train personnel and support operations in 11 major worldwide markets. The company faces adoption challenges against established display technologies but is scaling manufacturing to address that hurdle.
