Overview
PsycApps develops eQuoo, a gamified, evidence-based mental health intervention aimed at teens and young adults and sold to secondary schools, colleges and universities. The platform has undergone clinical trials and claims Ofsted coverage in the U.K.; it has previously won NHS approval and distribution via Unilever. eQuoo shifted from a short-term (five-week) game to a long-term (52-week) product with multiple stories, an in-app arcade and a chatbot to boost sustained engagement. The company cites that roughly 50% of teens/tweens report mental-health struggles and that 70% of 16–28-year-olds are casual gamers, which it uses to justify its engagement strategy. Recent contracts with Regional College and Paragon Skills cover nearly 20,000 students and apprentices in the U.K. With the new funding the team plans to move into growth mode and scale into North America, targeting higher-education customers that increasingly require resilience and personal-development programs. PsycApps is an iOS smartphone app that combines depression screening, psychoeducation and a client–therapist matching system. Built by Silja Litvin using insights from her PhD in clinical psychology and personal experience, the app is anonymous and highly secure. It offers three screening tests (1, 7 and 21 questions) that return one of five probability results, plus mood tracking and outcome stats. Therapeutic features include morning activation exercises, CBT exercises, visualization and positive‑psychology exercises. The company says it reduces the average therapist search time from six weeks to about 20–30 minutes. PsycApps competes with apps and services such as SAM, The Big White Wall, Headspace and Calm.com, and plans to monetize via therapist referral fees and a future premium subscription.
