Overview
Public Good Software runs PublicGood.com, a plug-in, easy-to-use online donations marketplace that gives nonprofits customized, cost-effective giving tools they can integrate into their websites and lets individuals discover causes to support. The founders previously built the technology that powered President Obama’s 2012 reelection grassroots online giving campaign and test-launched PublicGood.com in September 2014. Since the test launch, over 90 organizations have joined the site and the company has partnered with the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Reader to add a "Take Action" button linking news readers with nonprofits. The company positions itself against incumbent players in a roughly $30B nonprofit giving market and seeks to introduce more user-friendly products. In January 2015 Public Good Software raised $1.6M in seed funding to support growth. With the new capital the company plans to expand technical functionality and improve the donor and nonprofit experience as it scales its marketplace.
