Overview
Pudu Robotics develops and commercializes commercial service robots, including catering delivery robots as well as smart cleaning and disinfection robots. The company highlights in-house hardware development of components such as laser radar, active cameras, motors and motion controllers, and software capabilities including VSLAM+. It has expanded its global product line and announced a strategic partnership with KONE to develop smart building services. Pudu says it intends to accelerate R&D, establish comprehensive technological advantages, and create an open ecosystem using proceeds from its latest financing. The company reports shipping over 56,000 units as of December 2022, with deployments across North America, Europe, East Asia, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America, in more than 60 countries and 600+ cities. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Shenzhen, Pudu is continuing to ramp up international presence and broaden its product offerings. Pudo Robotics is a Shenzhen, China–based commercial service robotics manufacturer focused on the R&D, design, production and sales of commercial service robots. Its product lineup includes indoor delivery robots (PuduBot, PuduBot 2, BellaBot, KettyBot, HolaBot and SwiftBot), the in-building delivery robot FlashBot, cleaning robots PUDU CC1 and PUDU SH1, and the disinfection robot Puductor 2. As an R&D-driven company it independently researches and produces four core components: motors, single-line LiDARs, RGB depth-sensing cameras, and computing platforms & motion controllers. Led by founder and CEO Felix Zhang, the company has established a presence in some 600 cities across more than 60 countries and regions. Pudo Robotics completed a Series C3 financing of over $15M and plans to use the proceeds to build a new production base to expand production capacity and to develop products for commercial cleaning scenarios. The Series C3 round was led by Puhua Capital. Pudu Robotics develops and sells a range of commercial service robots, including PuduBot, BellaBot, HolaBot, Puductor 2, KettyBot and FlashBot. The company focuses on R&D, product design, production and global sales to improve efficiency in human production and living. Its robots are deployed across restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, government offices, airports, high-speed train stations and hospitals. Pudu has achieved cumulative sales of several tens of thousands of units and has a footprint covering more than 60 countries and regions. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate R&D, develop new products, open new sites and expand its global network. Pudu was founded in 2016 by Felix Zhang in Shenzen. Pudu Robotics describes itself as a “smart delivery robotics” company with a product lineup focused on the food services category. Its portfolio includes multiple indoor robot SKUs for food delivery and dish return, designed for scenarios under the same roof such as hotels, restaurants and office buildings rather than last-mile delivery apps. During the COVID-19 pandemic the company deployed “hundreds” of units to hospitals in South Korea and China and reports deployments in 200 cities across 20 countries. Financially, Pudu has completed a Series B in excess of $15 million. CEO Zhang Tao has emphasized that nonhuman physical contact improves safety and that automation saves human effort, positioning the company within public-health and automation trends accelerated by the pandemic.
