Overview

PunchTab began by helping businesses run promotions and loyalty programs and later added “second screen” tools that reward TV viewers for engaging with brands. The company has refocused on enterprise customers and on monetizing the data those programs generate to build a 360-degree view of customers. PunchTab’s platform can capture real-time purchase data—for example, users can upload receipts to prove purchases and receive rewards—addressing gaps in in-store customer insights. Named customers include Kroger, Arby’s, Nestle, and Harlequin. The company is using new funding to build up its sales team to compete in the marketing-tech enterprise market. In Q1 it reported 400% sales growth year-over-year compared to Q1 2013. PunchTab is a social loyalty and rewards platform that lets brands and agencies run giveaways and loyalty programs across a wide range of social networks. The platform supports networks beyond Facebook and Twitter, including Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Foursquare, and SoundCloud. PunchTab reports it powers 12,000 loyalty programs, ran 1,045 giveaways in September, and runs over 1,000 giveaways per month for brands such as Nokia, AT&T, and Green Day, serving more than 30 agency and enterprise customers. The company is expanding to mobile with an iPhone app called PunchTab Giveaways (an Android version is coming soon) that aggregates active contests and offers one-click actions like following, liking, +1’ing, and inviting friends. At launch the app included about 100 active giveaways with prizes such as Lytro cameras and Android tablets. PunchTab is backed by $5.25 million in venture funding. PunchTab offers a social loyalty platform that lets publishers reward users for actions such as daily check‑ins, Facebook comments, WordPress comments and Facebook likes, with points redeemable through a rewards catalog. The company also operates a mobile product, originally called PunchBowl and now rebranded as PunchTab Local, that enables businesses to create and publish local giveaways where consumers enter by liking, tweeting, or emailing. PunchTab powers more than 3,000 loyalty programs and thousands of giveaways and reaches over 7.5 million users each month. Using the platform, businesses have reported a 50% increase in Facebook fans, up to a 100% increase in repeat site visitors, and increases in online purchases. The startup was founded by YouSendIt founder Ranjith Kumaran. PunchTab says it will use the new funding for product development.
