PuriFire Energy
Unit D, Ground Floor, Lothbury House, Newmarket Road, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB5 8PB, United Kingdom
Overview
PuriFire Energy focuses on advanced decontamination, fractionation and thermochemical conversion processes that upcycle contaminated waste wood into higher-value products. Within the EU-backed WoodVALOR initiative, the company will produce phenolic monomers from decontaminated lignin through hydrothermal liquefaction and generate biochar via hydrothermal carbonisation. These outputs target applications such as bio-acrylates for water-based wall paints, soil-remediation biochar and carbon-sequestration trials. Participation in the 11-partner, six-country consortium is expected to accelerate PuriFire’s technology validation and expand its intellectual-property portfolio. The work aligns the firm with growing regulatory and customer demand for decarbonisation, waste reduction and bio-based materials. Although revenue impact is medium- to long-term and dependent on commercial scale-up, the project positions PuriFire within emerging value chains for sustainable coatings, bio-based chemicals and carbon-negative solutions.
