Pythonic AI developed a machine-learning platform that pulls keywords from electronic medical billing documents to surface information needed for underwriting and claims evaluation. The product is aimed at streamlining medical review for insurers by extracting underwriting-relevant data buried in clinical jargon. Founders Baoqiang Cao and Matt Younkle have been working on the platform for about a year; Younkle brings startup and product-management experience while Cao has a background in physics and machine-learning for bioinformatics. The company is piloting the technology with underwriters at Northwestern Mutual to better understand underwriting needs. Pythonic AI received seed funding and non‑financial support as the winner of Northwestern Mutual’s Reverse Pitch MKE and plans to use the capital to acquire hardware for product development. They also gained access to mentorship, networks, and office space at Cream City Labs in downtown Milwaukee.
