Qianhai Mobile provides wireless internet access to commuters via its 'VIFI' service, deployed on around 35,000 buses across 18 Chinese cities including Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The company says it reaches over 7.5 million Chinese commuters. It is an affiliate of NASDAQ-listed media firm ChinaVision (VisionChina Media) and focuses on transit-based connectivity and passenger services. Qianhai Mobile plans to use new capital to expand its infrastructure and secure additional deals and deployments. The company has formed a strategic partnership with Baidu to jointly develop and monetize mobile app distribution and other mobile passenger services powered by Baidu Map.
