Overview
Quantason has developed a bi-modal (US/IDUS™) platform that combines anatomical 2D ultrasound imaging with proprietary real-time acoustic stimulation to image, detect, locate in 3D, and classify micron-size targets by unique response signatures. The IDUS™ technology is sensitive to tissue characteristics and material properties clinically associated with disease states, including markers of premalignant breast lesions such as clusters and grouped microcalcifications. IDUS™ is compatible with automated, hands-free volumetric ultrasound scanners as well as conventional systems with hand-held transducers. The company also cites potential applications in in‑situ drug delivery, precision biopsy guidance, intra-body navigation, and other non-medical uses. Led by Chairman Edward Ray and President & CEO Dr. Edmond Rambod, Quantason intends to use the new funds to complete IDUS system integration, continue product development, initiate clinical trials and strengthen intellectual property protection. The company completed a $3.2M Series B to advance these plans.
