Overview
Quantum Materials Asia (QMA) was formed in Hong Kong in September 2016 as a joint venture between North American quantum-dot maker Quantum Materials Corp and Hong Kong-based Guanghui Technology Group. QMA plans to build two quantum dot production lines and application development centers sited in the Beijing and Changde Special Economic Development Zones, with construction starting in Q3 2017. Both facilities will use Quantum Materials Corp’s proprietary high-volume continuous-flow manufacturing technology to produce heavy metal-free quantum dots at scale. Regional production is intended to allow customization of QD characteristics, optimize manufacturing efficiencies, and improve supply-chain logistics for major display component manufacturers. QMA registered initial capital of 100 million RMB at establishment and has secured further funding to build out production. The company expects rapid growth to meet current display demand and emerging applications such as solar power generation.
