Overview
QuarkVR is a Bulgarian startup that develops software to stream VR content to wireless headsets with very low latency. Its software compresses streamed content to achieve up to 2 milliseconds of precision and supports simultaneous users in the same virtual environment, enabling VR conference calls and multi-user experiences. The company was founded in 2014 and has worked with Deutsche Telekom and Orange to pilot VR calls, meetings, factory trainings and consumer products. Recent testing included running QuarkVR on next-generation 5G telco equipment as part of a DT project aimed at providing factory trainings to a Volkswagen facility. QuarkVR has raised €680K to date, recently closing a €325K round to expand its development team of six and finance upcoming projects. It currently does not generate significant revenues, but management believes a contract with a client like DT or Orange could make the company profitable.
