Quesma is building a novel database gateway intended to reshape how applications are built and connected to databases. Its first product targets customers struggling with the ELK stack (Elastic, Logstash, Kibana) and will provide compatibility with the ElasticSearch/OpenSearch interface. The company says the gateway brings benefits similar to breaking a monolith into microservices, allowing CTOs to switch applications and databases and future-proof the stack. Quesma will launch as an open-core product and plans a first release in 2024. Founders Jacek Migdal and Pawel Brzoska are veterans of the observability industry and cite painful database outages and slow enterprise data migrations as barriers that stiffen innovation. The team argues that many enterprises are not ready to leverage recent LLM advances because of legacy maintenance, wrong tooling, and protracted data migrations.
