Overview
Quest is a mobile question-and-answer app that combines a people-powered answering platform with automatic geotagging to connect users with nearby people who can answer location-based questions. Unlike Jelly, Quest plans to build its own registered community rather than tapping existing social networks, routing text-based questions by topic and location to the users best positioned to answer. The app is available on Android with an iOS version expected in a few days, and the founders say it will later support pictures and video. Back-end algorithms tag and route questions by location and user profiles to improve match quality while keeping human answers as the core. Founders Deepak Ravindran and Mohammed Hisamuddin are relocating from their Bangalore offices to join 500 Startups' latest batch, and have advisors including Louis Monier, Pranav Mistry and Asha Jadeja. As part of the transition they are buying back their stakes in their previous company, Innoz, from external investor Seedfund; Innoz has been profitable for three years and is expected to report around $4 million in revenue this year.
