QuickBus

18 Ihuntayi Road, Oniru, Lagos Island Rd, Lagos, 106104, Nigeria

Overview

QuickBus offers an online aggregation and booking platform for long‑distance bus travel in Africa, positioning itself as a Skyscanner/Kayak equivalent for buses. The platform connects to bus operators via an API and uses a revenue‑sharing model to enable seat reservations, customer ratings, and features such as women‑only adjacent seating on night buses. The company began onboarding drivers and companies in 2018 and formally launched the following year; it currently operates in Kenya, Uganda and Angola with a team of 18 in Nairobi, Kampala and Luanda and a remote tech team in the UK, Romania and India. By late 2019 QuickBus had committed partnerships with about 40 bus companies and plans expansion into South Africa, West Africa (including Nigeria and Ghana), and Mozambique. In the first nine months since launch the startup reached a transaction rate of about 4,500 bookings per month worth $130,000. Founder Humphrey Wrey used personal savings and early angel capital to start the business while pursuing investor-backed expansion.
