Quikkly is a London-based marketing startup that aims to “make the real world clickable” through its action tag system, a spin on traditional QR codes. Its action tags do more than link to a page: they can follow social accounts, play trailers, or add events to calendars when scanned. The company launched last month and has already started to see traction with brands and agencies. Quikkly raised $1m in funding from Initial Capital and a group of angel investors. CEO Fergal Walker said companies are already seeing levels of offline engagement considerably higher than before. Initial Capital’s Shakeeb Alireza praised the concept and said the firm looks forward to helping Quikkly grow into a global leader in the category.
