Qura, Inc. has developed the QSmart™ System, a wireless, implantable pressure sensor and monitoring system designed to continuously detect and track intraocular pressure (IOP). The micro-sized, programmable sensor collects continuous IOP data and delivers it to desktop, handheld or tablet devices so physicians can evaluate treatment effectiveness in real time. Qura positions the system to facilitate timely and targeted medical or surgical intervention for glaucoma patients worldwide, noting approximately 80 million people are affected by glaucoma. The company announced a $1 million strategic investment from Santen Ventures to support development and commercialization as part of its Series A financing. The QSmart™ System is currently in the pre-clinical stage of development. InFocus Capital Partners initiated and sponsored the Series A round.
