R-Hauz Solutions builds high-quality, purpose-built housing using mass timber and prefabricated panel systems manufactured in a factory for on-site assembly. The company produces laneway housing and six-storey townhomes designed to integrate manufacturing and automotive mass-production techniques with city planning frameworks. Founded in 2017 by Michael Barker and George Carras and based in Toronto, R-Hauz launched a purpose-built rental housing pilot in 2020 — the first six-storey all-wood mass timber residential building in Ontario, a 26,000 sq ft project expected to be completed by year-end. The startup has secured strategic partnerships with local developers, institutional affordable housing developers, and municipal agencies to deliver both market-rate and affordable housing across the Greater Toronto–Hamilton Area. R-Hauz closed a C$4.5M seed funding round to accelerate development of its design-for-assembly strategy and continue investing in streamlining the housing delivery process.
