Radify

25 Shereen Pl, Campbell, CA, 95008, USA

Overview

Radify develops plasma-based reactors that heat hydrogen into a plasma and blast metal oxide powders into the chamber to strip oxygen and yield pure metal, producing only water vapor as waste. The company says its design allows for smaller, more flexible reactors compared with incumbent large-scale equipment, which it believes can lower manufacturing costs and enable faster pivots between metals. Radify is focused initially on dysprosium and neodymium, key rare earths used in magnets and electronics, and is exploring additional metals including hafnium, uranium, scandium, titanium, iron, and aluminum. The five-person team is refining the technology in a lab in Campbell, California and expects to make several kilograms of pure metal per day by the end of the year. It plans to raise more capital to build a pilot reactor capable of producing up to 100 kilograms per day and to scale toward commercial competitiveness with incumbent producers. The company has raised just under $3 million to date from investors that include Overture, Founders Inc., Mana Ventures, and Acequia Capital.
