RadiumOne is a San Francisco-based marketing technology company that operates a global programmatic marketing automation software platform. Led by CEO Bill Lonergan, the platform uses proprietary data about consumer behaviors across web and mobile touch points to enable real-time, personalized programmatic advertising and customer engagement across devices and screens. The company serves over 1,000 customers across 12 countries, with clients in the travel, financial services, retail, telecom, automotive, and entertainment sectors. RadiumOne plans to invest the new financing to further develop Activate, its self-service and managed-service programmatic advertising platform, and to advance its patented big data and software solutions that analyze consumer social sharing behaviors. The company also intends to use the funds to expand its global reach into Asia-Pacific and Europe. Financially, the round brings an additional $54M in equity and debt to the company. RadiumOne operates an advertising network that enhances behavioral targeting by building interest-graph profiles based on users' friends and social-sharing behavior. It combines data from partners such as ShareThis, AddThis and AddToAny using unique URL shorteners and cookies to infer relationships and interests and target ads across the web. The company reports improved ad effectiveness—one retailer increased return from $8 to $14 per dollar spent, and a credit card company cut cost-per-acquisition from $200 to $75. RadiumOne plans to use a recently raised $21 million warchest to acquire widget partners outright and lock in those data sources. The company also says it may pay sites to include its widget to gain distribution and additional data. CEO Gurbaksh Chahal, who previously sold BlueLithium to Yahoo for $300 million in 2007, is leading the expansion.
