Futureful builds a predictive discovery engine and iPad app that provides a personal, predictive interface for uncovering web content. Rather than a traditional browser or search, the team created a custom browser hybrid that surfaces content via subject tags and intelligent link chains, avoiding standard URLs. The app uses artificial intelligence, semantic tagging and machine learning and mines social data among many signals to recommend relevant but serendipitous content. Users can "Fave" content and add tags to save pages and improve the system for others. Futureful is iPad-only at launch with plans to develop an Android version later the same year and to release an API in 2013. The founders have not settled on a business model, but have had inbound interest from companies looking to license its predictive personalization technology. The eight-person team raised a $1.5 million seed round from Janus Friis and family and friends and is pursuing a larger Series A with noted U.S. VC interest.
