Rare Bits

Overview
Rare Bits operates an auction and commerce site that aggregates crypto-collectibles from multiple games and projects, letting users view historical pricing and transact via a single wallet. The platform lists more than 500,000 items from a dozen games (including CryptoPunks, Ether Tulips and CryptoKitties) and saw more than $100,000 in transactions in its first month after launching in February. Rare Bits currently does not add extra marketplace fees; if a crypto-item developer charges a secondary-sale fee, Rare Bits splits that fee for arranging the transaction. The team refunds users the Ethereum "gas" costs for purchases and sales today, though it notes that could become costly if usage scales and network congestion rises. The founders plan to use the runway to secure partnerships with developers and creatives and are building a Fan Bits feature to let creators issue crypto-based collectibles for fans. The company highlights both strong high-value sales (one item sold for over $10,000; sales in the 5–10 ETH range are common) and risks from Ethereum scaling and potential fad-driven demand.
