Ravel develops a legal search, analytics, and visualization platform that helps lawyers find, contextualize, and interpret information to prepare for litigation. The company’s core product combines search and analytics with visualizations to surface insights from legal data. Co‑founded by CEO Daniel Lewis and Nik Reed, Ravel spun out of Stanford University’s Law School, Computer Science Department, and d.school in 2012 with support from CodeX. Ravel is based in Palo Alto, California. The company raised $8.1m in a Series A round to continue building its solution.
