Re:course AI is a Manchester-based startup developing a generative-AI tuition product that uses lifelike, conversational avatars to simulate real patient scenarios for medical training. The avatars act as a "co-pilot" to steer trainees through preparatory courses and are trained with distinct teaching parameters to help address potential bias. Medical schools can choose from dozens of avatars, each equipped with language automation tailored to specific medical topics. The company is collaborating with USC Keck School of Medicine and received a $1.2 million award from NHS England's SBRI Healthcare unit, enabling early pilots with primary care clinicians in South Yorkshire and support for Ministry of Defence medical training. Re:course AI also plans to recruit more engineers, build foreign market share, and explore applications in R&D labs, drug discovery, and other life-sciences fields. It secured seed funding to support these expansion and product-development plans.
