Overview
Realm offers a data platform that shows homeowners not just current valuations but how their property value could change after specific renovations, using public data, user-contributed data, and proprietary models. The founder, Liz Young, launched the platform earlier this year and the company says its free database covers over 70 million single-family detached homes in the U.S. Realm reports helping more than 20,000 homeowners uncover an average of $175,000 in potential property value, and its user base is growing about 20% month over month. The company also operates a marketplace that connects owners to contractors, architects and lenders; the marketplace is live in California and will expand to new markets over the next 12 months. Realm plans to use new capital to improve the quality and sophistication of its data insights, hire across data science, engineering, marketing and operations, and continue developing its proprietary datasets and models. A large part of Realm’s growth is driven by relationships with agents and word of mouth from its existing users. Realm provides a central hub of unbiased advice to help homeowners navigate the regulatory, physical, and financial aspects of home investments. The platform analyzes thousands of unique data points to show homeowners what their property could be worth and how to access more of its potential value. Realm highlights opportunities to increase property value through square-foot add-ons, renovations, rental units, and more. The company plans to use the new funding to continue to expand operations and its business reach. Realm was founded in 2019 by CEO Liz Young and is based in New York City.
