RealSelf operates an online community focused on cosmetic and non-surgical aesthetic treatments, where users post anonymous reviews, photos, ratings and questions and doctors can create profiles and offer consultations. The site has amassed more than 2 million anonymous patient reviews and last year drew nearly 94 million visitors, about 40% of whom were from outside the U.S. RealSelf monetizes by offering doctors targeting tools and has been profitable for years, facilitating around 500,000 connections between consumers and doctors each month. The company has grown to more than 200 employees and says demand for information about minimally invasive procedures continues to rise. Using the new funding, RealSelf plans to grow awareness, drive innovation, extend its global reach, hire significantly and expand its Seattle office in Pioneer Square.
