Reata Pharmaceuticals develops oral anti-inflammatory therapeutics, with lead candidate bardoxolone methyl targeting advanced chronic kidney disease in patients with Type 2 diabetes. The company completed a $78M equity financing that brings total capital raised to $180M. Proceeds will fund completion of the second of two pivotal trials for bardoxolone methyl and advance other pipeline candidates into clinical development. Reata plans to build a commercial organization in the United States to support a potential launch. The company has a partnership with Kyowa Hakko Kirin to develop the product for Japan and certain other Asian markets. It also intends to seek a partner for expanded development and commercialization in Europe and other worldwide markets.
