Reath, founded in 2019 and based in Edinburgh, is building a digital infrastructure for reusable packaging. The company is designing an Open Data Standard called reuse.id and assigns unique ‘digital passports’ to individual products. Those passports collect and track location and other data through the distribution chain to help companies adopt safe, compliant and scalable reusable packaging systems. Reath aims to accelerate the shift from a linear to a circular economy and reduce packaging waste. The business is backed by Innovate UK, Tech Nation and other startup funds. It plans to use new funding to further develop reuse.id, expand its team of developers and data scientists, and strengthen its market position.
