Recombinetics

600 County Rd D West Ste 8, New Brighton, Minnesota, 55112, United States

Overview

Recombinetics develops gene-editing solutions for human health and animal agriculture, aiming to commercialize genetic products and models across biomedical and agricultural markets. Founded in 2008 and based in St. Paul, Minn., it operates a single gene-editing technology platform that supports three business lines: Acceligen, Surrogen and Regenevida. Acceligen targets precision breeding to enhance health, well-being and productivity in food animals and aquaculture; Surrogen produces gene-edited swine models for biomedical research and preclinical trials; Regenevida develops human regenerative products, including cells, tissues and organ products in swine models for exotransplantation. The company maintains a global intellectual property portfolio with 22 issued patents and more than 300 patent filings on gene-editing methods, traits, and novel reproduction methods in animals. Recombinetics plans to commercialize regenerative medicine products, therapeutic cell and tissue production (“oinkubators”), and enhanced animal breeding traits. Proceeds from financing will be used to accelerate R&D, expand laboratory and animal care facilities, grow scientific and commercial teams, and pursue licensing and co-development opportunities. Recombinetics develops precision gene‑editing technologies for animals, primarily producing proprietary swine models used in therapeutic development and testing. The company licenses and commercializes gene‑edited livestock traits to enhance productivity, animal health, and welfare in agriculture. Its global patent portfolio includes 11 issued patents and more than 150 additional applications, with first‑use and enabling patents for livestock for both CRISPR and TALENs and substantial IP in advanced reproductive physiology. Key accomplishments cited include the world’s first sale of gene‑edited pig models to a medical clinic for human cardiac therapeutics testing and global rights for TALENs as a principal tool for gene‑editing in large animals. Financially, Recombinetics completed a $10 million common stock offering (priced at $5 per share) that was oversubscribed and closed at more than $11 million; to date it has raised over $24 million in private investments. The company has engaged Capitol Peak Asset Management to advise on future capitalization and strategic transactions as it continues commercialization across biomedicine, regenerative medicine, and agriculture.
