Recover
C. de Orense, 34, Planta 4ª, Madrid, 28020, Spain
Overview
Recover produces low-impact, high-quality recycled cotton fiber and cotton fiber blends using proprietary materials-science and IP aimed at rotor and ring-spinning applications. The company sells to large global retailers and brands, including Primark, Inditex, C&A, Revolve and Lands’ End, and partners with customers on co-branded sustainable products. Recover plans to use the new capital to accelerate global expansion and increase production capacity, with a stated path to exceed 350,000 metric tons of recycled cotton fiber per year by 2026. The company says that scale would enable large reductions in water use (up to 5 trillion liters annually), carbon emissions, energy and land use versus conventional cotton, based on a verified LCA. Recover is a fourth-generation, family-owned business with roughly 70 years in the textile industry and has opened manufacturing hubs in Pakistan and Bangladesh, with additional hubs in Bangladesh and Vietnam due to open. The firm positions itself as a category-defining innovator in the $50 billion cotton market offering cost-competitive, sustainable fiber solutions. Recover produces low-impact, high-performance recycled cotton fiber and cotton fiber blends using proprietary mechanical recycling technology and a ColorBlend system to limit dyes. It recycles industrial and pre- and post-consumer cotton waste and supplies fibers compatible with both rotor and ring spinning. Per the Higg Material Sustainability Index, Recover’s recycled cotton fiber has the lowest environmental impact score in the world. Recover is a fourth-generation, family-owned company with a 70-year history in textile recycling and has supplied brands including Wrangler, H&M Group, Tommy Hilfiger, G-Star, The North Face, Billabong and Bonobo. Through a strategic partnership with STORY3 Capital, Recover plans to scale production to 200,000 metric tons of recycled cotton fiber per year by 2025. That planned expansion is projected to save nearly three trillion liters of water annually and allow roughly 500,000 acres to be directed away from cotton cultivation.
