Recurious
Sunnyvale, CA, US
Overview
Recurious builds thoughtfully designed educational games aimed at sparking curiosity and self-motivated learning in children. Its first title, Dinorama, targets kids ages 7–12 and centers on building and managing a dinosaur theme park. Dinorama teaches concepts like earning, spending, and saving by having players care for dinosaurs, manage park finances, and respond to events such as rainstorms. The game emphasizes entrepreneurial behavior and problem solving through activities like hiring staff, feeding dinosaurs, and maintaining attractions. Founder James Miao, who previously founded thesixtyone and worked at EA, applies his gaming experience to children's game design. Recurious plans to launch additional games focused on creative play as well as multiplication and division, and recently announced $1.5 million in funding led by Greylock Partners (Reid Hoffman).
