Redbird Health Tech provides on-site rapid-test technology to pharmacies and chemists to help diagnose chronic and acute conditions. The Accra-based company was founded last year by CEO Patrick Beattie and Andrew Quao. It currently partners with two pharmacies in the Accra region and plans to scale to 30 additional community pharmacies over the next three months. Redbird was one of three winners at DEMO Africa’s Accra pitch event. The startup says it will use new funding to expand its customer base, improve its product offering and upgrade its IT infrastructure. Gray Matters Capital highlighted Redbird’s potential to reduce pregnancy complications and maternal mortality and to improve access to diagnostic services as a key rationale for the investment.
