Overview

RedCircle is a Los Angeles, CA-based podcast platform for independent creators that provides tools to manage distribution, cross-promotion, dynamic audio insertion, listener payments and automated advertising. The platform enables brands to purchase host-read ads or programmatic, pre-recorded advertising across a large number of podcasts through an automated platform. It offers tools for demographic targeting, advertising attribution and brand safety to help brands and agencies establish a presence in podcast marketing or scale existing spend. RedCircle was founded in 2018 by Mike Kadin and Jeremy Lermitte. On March 9, 2021 the company raised $6M in a Series A led by EPIC Ventures and Refinery Ventures, with participation from SignalFire, Bloomberg Beta, MathCapital and angel investors including Justin Wohlstadter, George Strampolo and Eckart Walther. The company intends to use the funds to expand its team and enhance its offerings. RedCircle is a podcasting startup launched by a group of former Uber employees that offers hosting, analytics and its own web-based podcast player. The company runs a cross-promotion marketplace to help podcasters grow their audiences and recently added a tipping feature that places a tip button on the RedCircle player and can insert tipping links into show notes. The tipping flow lets listeners pay $2, $5 or a custom amount; RedCircle says it provides more data about who’s making payments and issues a 1099 for taxes. The team frames its mission as building tools to help podcasters create a real business rather than competing with other podcast apps. Hosting and analytics are offered for free, and the company said it is continuing to roll out additional product improvements. RedCircle has raised a $1.5 million seed round led by Roy Bahat at Bloomberg Beta.
