Overview
Redcore (红芯) developed a browser it promoted as using a self‑developed 'Redcore' kernel and targeted large and mid‑sized enterprise customers. The company described product features including an 'invisible shield' to hide enterprise applications, cloud adaptation to bring PC systems to mobile, and security measures such as private DNS and encrypted caching. Redcore later acknowledged and apologized that its Redcore kernel was based on the open‑source Chromium architecture rather than being a wholly independent engine. Independent analysis and engineers raised multiple technical and security concerns, citing outdated code patterns, duplicated/poorly structured plugin code, and a password manager that stored passwords locally without encryption. The firm has aggressively marketed the browser as a standard platform for government and large corporate desktops. Financially, Redcore reported completing a RMB 250 million C‑series strategic financing; its operating entity is Redcore Era (Beijing) Technology Co., with registered capital of RMB 16.9413 million.
