Overview

RedOwl provides an analytical solution, Reveal, for security, compliance, and investigative use cases by identifying and analyzing changes, patterns and anomalies in user behavior. The product is deployed across multiple verticals and is used within many Fortune 500 companies, including Blackstone and K2 Intelligence. Led by founder and CEO Guy Filippelli, the company will use new funds to continue its expansion and to build out product development and data science teams. RedOwl also plans to broaden its go-to-market efforts with this financing. Financially, the company has raised nearly $30m in total funding following the new round. The company is based in San Francisco, CA. RedOwl Analytics applies analytics to internal corporate data streams for proactive risk oversight. Its cloud-based Reveal platform assists in investigating financial crimes, monitoring to limit risk, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and detecting illicit behavior in near real-time. The company is based in Baltimore, MD, was founded in late 2011, and is led by CEO Guy Filippelli. It focuses on clients in the financial services, legal & investigative, and government verticals. RedOwl recently closed a $4.6M Series A financing to accelerate product development and expand its client portfolio. Red Owl Analytics is a Federal Hill–based behavioral intelligence startup founded in 2011 that builds Reveal, a software product that identifies unusual behaviors within phone calls, e-mails and other information in near real time. The company says an investment from In-Q-Tel will go toward further development of Reveal and support expansion into the government market. Red Owl entered a technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel alongside the investment, establishing a strategic relationship with the CIA’s venture partner. Prior to the In-Q-Tel deal, Red Owl won the InvestMaryland Challenge IT category and received $100,000 from the Maryland Venture Fund. CEO and cofounder Guy Filippelli previously served as special assistant to the director of the NSA, which the company highlights in positioning for government customers.
