Overview
Reelgood provides a universal streaming dashboard that lets users track viewing and discover what to watch next across subscription, free, and authenticated TV services. The app has over 10 million users and catalogs movies and TV across roughly 336 streaming services. It translates user activity into licensed data sold to about 50 business customers, including Roku, Microsoft, smart TV makers, NYPost and hedge funds. Reelgood reports its data averages 98% quality across 300+ services and offers robust search, filtering and play-through to source apps. The company hired Nielsen’s former SVP of global measurement, Mark Green, to lead its B2B data licensing arm, Reelgood Insights. Headquartered in San Francisco, Reelgood has 18 employees and is actively hiring. Additional funding will be used to expand distribution onto a range of smart TVs via five signed deals beginning in 2020 (LG disclosed). Reelgood offers a single interface that aggregates content from over 250 streaming services, positioning itself as a TV guide for the streaming era. The product launched out of beta with a site that lets users select which services to display, browse by genre or keyword, and open titles directly on the destination service. It emphasizes discovery and tracking — including a “Watch Next” feature that lets users mark which episodes they’ve already seen and follow series. The site tracks paid services, free ad-supported sources (e.g., Fox, CBS, ABC, Crackle) and cable networks (e.g., FX, Starz, Showtime, HBO). The team includes seven members who previously worked on Popcorn Time. Reelgood is not monetizing yet and is focused on perfecting the user experience before pursuing revenue.
