Overview
Refract develops AXIS, a wearable, untethered motion-capture solution that lets players use their bodies as game controllers without external base stations. The system supports 7–10 sensor nodes for consumer gaming and up to 17 for high-precision capture, and it integrates with OpenVR, OpenXR, Unity, Unreal and headsets like Oculus Quest 2. Through its recently acquired Deep Dive Studios, Refract is also creating first-party XR titles, with FreeStriker slated to be bundled free for AXIS owners. The company has forged partnerships including one with World Taekwondo to turn “Virtual Taekwondo” into a future medal event and plans to showcase AXIS at the 2022 Global Esports Games in Istanbul. Fresh capital is earmarked for accelerated R&D, team expansion and the commercial launch of AXIS later this year, targeting a global base of 2.9 billion gamers, tech adopters and fitness enthusiasts. Founded in 2018 by Chong Geng Ng, Michael Chng and Eugene Koh, Refract has raised a total of about SGD 9 million to date, including proceeds from a successful Kickstarter campaign.
