RelayOne has developed software that lets surgeons and healthcare providers communicate with medical-device vendors about cases. The tool integrates with EHRs and allows both providers and vendors to view surgical schedules and receive updates. The product was built to address communication gaps caused by frequent changes in the OR; CEO Cam Sexton said OR directors can now remotely monitor and proactively manage schedules. The company plans to use the $1M raise to grow its product, expand its hospital network, hire sales and engineering teams, and introduce new products down the pipeline. Financially, RelayOne raised $1 million from Cofounders Capital following a prior $500,000 seed from the same investor, bringing total funding to $1.5 million. Cofounders Capital partner and RelayOne board member Tim McLoughlin said the company has demonstrated strong ROI and engagement, and the firm invested to help accelerate adoption. RelayOne built a secure software platform that disseminates operating-room scheduling information to relevant stakeholders in real time. The platform integrates with EHRs and is designed to be HIPAA-compliant. The company was founded by two frustrated medical device sales reps and the team includes engineers who previously built the anonymous chat app YikYak. RelayOne has developed the software and plans to use new funding to launch it commercially. It already has contracts lined up with two large health systems. The product targets problems caused by frequent schedule changes that can lead to last-minute cancellations and wasted vendor travel. Its market sits alongside established clinical-communication vendors such as Spok, Voalte, and TigerConnect, and surgical-focused competitors like CaseTabs and DocSpera.
